Dr. Richard Stoker grew up on a farm in Lewisville, Idaho, and attended Rigby High School where he participated in basketball and football. He later served an LDS mission to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon returning home, he attended and graduated from Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho), attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh, and later completed his residency at the University of Colorado. He also practiced dentistry for five years in Colorado before returning to Idaho Falls to establish Stoker Family Dental.  He purchased Cascade Dental in the summer of 2019 and frequently drives over from Idaho Falls to serve the residents of Cascade and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Stoker enjoys spending time in the outdoors where he loves to snowmobile, motorcycle, camp, boat, scuba dive, and mountain bike with his wife, Sara, and their five children: Kamren, Briley, Ali, Kinley, and Logan.

Dr. James Stirland discovered his love for dentistry while attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he graduated with a BS in Neuroscience. He then received his DMD at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in 2014. After graduation from school, Dr. Stirland completed a 2-year residency in General Dentistry at Fort Hood, Texas with the U.S. Army. In 2017, he was assigned to the Last Frontier of Alaska where he expanded his scope of dentistry. Dr. Stirland ran the Army’s dental clinic at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson where he was able to manage care for over 4,000 soldiers and mentor multiple general dentists to pursue higher areas of interest.

While on active duty with the U.S. Army, he developed valuable dental skills including placing dental implants to restore missing teeth; periodontal surgeries to restore oral health in diseased tissue or as a necessary prep for other procedures; endodontic procedures; extensive surgical cases such as wisdom teeth removal, biopsies, and trauma; orthodontics; pedodontics; and overall comprehensive care of each patient.

Dr. Stirland loves being able to help people reach their fullest potential in oral health through teaching. His favorite part of dentistry is the role he plays in helping boost his patient’s confidence by helping them turn their lives from painful insecurity to a healthy, confident smile. His patients recognize his calm and kind nature, and feel comfortable and at ease in his care.

When not in the dental office, you can find Dr. Stirland with his beautiful wife, Rachel, and their three wonderful children hitting the rivers to fish, playing soccer in the backyard, or exploring a new trail!

JOSH WESTERBERG, LD (Licensed Denturist)

Josh joined our Cascade Dental team in the summer of 2019 and comes up once a month from Caldwell. As far as we’re concerned, denturists don’t come better than Josh. He was basically raised inside a denture clinic and grew up watching his family manufacture and adjust dentures. His family started manufacturing dentures over 60 years ago in the Treasure Valley which is what lead him to become a Licensed Denturist. Josh takes pride in his work and is constantly searching for new and innovative ideas to make his products better and state of the art. Josh loves building dentures because it gives him the opportunity to have a hand in changing someone’s smile and life!

“My patients are truly like family to me and I strive to make their experience a great one. I focus on doing what is best for the patient and not what is going to make the clinic the most money. I’ve been around this business my entire life and I hope I get the chance to serve you.” ~Josh Westerberg
